Sisu - The road to happiness from Finland

All over the world, there are different views on how to find your own personal happiness. According to the World Happiness Report, Finland is the happiest country in the world. But why are the Finns the happiest people? On the one hand, the Finns' closeness to nature - the forests, the water and the vastness create a feeling of security - are considered important ingredients for their happy life and their contentment, which they call "onni". On the other hand, there is also their attitude to life, their mindset, which they describe with the word "sisu". You can find out exactly what it's all about here.

What is Sisu?

The word "sisu" is considered untranslatable. For a long time, English linguists have tried to find a good translation, but they have all failed. In general, the Finnish word sisu can be compared to the words "strength", "perseverance" or "persistence". Ethymologically, it has a word stem that can be translated as "inward" or "within". It is therefore about an inner attitude that is characterized by perseverance and resilience - the Finnish form of resilience, so to speak - and thus a topic that is an integral part of modern psychology.

Sisu is an action-oriented way of thinking, the essence of which is to use the moment as it is and not impatiently long for the future. Sisu is an omnipresent part of the Finnish mentality. To put it simply, in this country we would perhaps say that the Finns "have guts".

Why the name SISU?

SISU reflects my personality and characteristics.

Courage, patience, perseverance, warmth and strength are important qualities for me to take on challenges.

In my life, I have learned that things don't always go the way you want them to. At such times, it is important to remain patient and pay attention to the signs that the universe sends us. These signs can show us new possibilities and paths that we may not have recognized before. From my own experience, I know that it is worth paying attention to these signs and being open to alternative solutions.

Sometimes the straight path is not always the goal.❣

But sometimes it is precisely the detours, deviations and unexpected events that open up new perspectives and ultimately lead us to our destination.
